They make a clear coat paint that comes in a spray can. You can get it at any hardware store. Another option is if there is someplace that sells ceramics. Ceramics are painted w/ acrylic paint %26amp; there is a certain clear coat they use for that. After painting wine glasses with acrylic paint, what kind of paint can i use to give it a clear finish?
A clear acrylic glaze, but I hope you're not expecting the acrylic to stay on the glass. It won't do that very well, and it won't take washing. You need glass paint for that, preferably the kind you bake on.
It is very hard to keep acrylic paint on glass. Years ago, I painted a glass pipe with enamel. While better then acrylic, it too can be scratched off; so I covered it in an epoxy glue for protection and strength. It had a yellowish tint, but was strong. You might try this on a piece of junk glass to see how you like it. I had to keep turning the glass while the glue setup, so it wouldn't puddle in one spot.
As long as they are only decorative, anything will work. Poly, resin, etc. But, if they are to be used for drinking, paint for glass is the only safe paint. Just paint on the outside.
